Rose Byrne’s star power is set to rise even higher in coming months: Damages, the drama series in which the Australian actress stars alongside Glenn Close, has been given a July premiere date by US pay TV network FX.
Described as the legal world’s answer to The Devil Wears Prada, the 13-episode series features Byrne as a first-year associate who scores a job with Patty Hewes (Close), one of the top lawyers in the US.
The star-studded cast also includes Ted Danson (Becker, Help Me Help You) and Tate Donovan (The O.C.).
The series is currently being shot in the US. According to Sydney Confidential, Damages will air in Australia on the Nine Network in 2008.
Byrne, who’s had parts in several Australian TV series and films, first broke the big time with a minor role in the new Star Wars trilogy. In 2007 she had leading roles in the films Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later.
